Volunteers get a move on !

Since the beginning of October, the Association's volunteers have been actively preparing Barque La Savoie for renovation work, starting at the end of this month in Port Pinard, in AMPHION LES BAINS.

Motivated teams of volunteers relieved each other on the Barque to dismantle the masts and lateen yards, to fold up and take away the sails and the rigging. Another important job was the demantling of upper superstructure elements to ease the carpenters' (Chantier Bernard) intervention. Finally, the boatyard site in Port Pinard had to be cleaned and prepared before the arrival of the Barque.

On 29th of October, Barque la Savoie will be in dry dock. Marine carpenters and volunteers are ready to start this winter's renovation work, in order to give La Savoie a new lease of life, and to see her sail again in May 2016.

Volunteers should perform about 2500 working hours to achieve this last stage of renovation work and they will need your support, either by following our news on our website or by visiting the boatyard in Port Pinard.

The Association has almost reached the planned budget, but 80 000 euros still need to be gathered to definitely close up the accounts.

If you wish to help the Association Mémoire du Léman, do not hesitate to make a donation.
